MENUS: Fairfield Senior Citizen Center, Fairfield Community School District Nov. 19-23, 2018

Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals

Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

The menu for the coming week is:

Monday — spaghetti with meat sauce, mixed green salad with dressing, banana.

Tuesday — beef tips in gravy, sour cream mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, tropical fruit, pumpkin bar.

Wednesday — cook’s choice with dessert.

Thursday — Thanksgiving; all nutrition centers are closed.

Nov. 23 — All nutrition centers are closed.

Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.

Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield school meals

The Fairfield Community School District has announced the menu for the coming week.

Elementary schools:

Monday — breakfast: breakfast bread. Lunch: soft shell taco with meat and cheese, refried beans, lettuce and tomato, fancy pears.

Tuesday — breakfast: Dutch waffle. Lunch: cheesy Trojan bread with marinara, corn, raisels.

Wednesday — Thanksgiving break; no school.

Thursday — Thanksgiving break; no school.

Friday — Thanksgiving break; no school.

Milk, juice and fruit is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.

Middle school:

Monday — breakfast: breakfast bread. Lunch: soft shell taco with beef and cheese or soft shell taco with chicken and cheese, refried beans, fancy pears.

Tuesday — breakfast: Dutch waffle. Lunch: cheesy Trojan bread with marinara or pizza crunchers with marinara, corn, raisels.

Wednesday — Thanksgiving break; no school.

Thursday — Thanksgiving break; no school.

Friday — Thanksgiving break; no school.

Milk, juice and fruit are served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. A fresh garden bar, with fresh fruits and vegetables, is served daily with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.

High school:

Monday — breakfast: breakfast bun. Lunch: beef fiestada or crispitos, peppy pinto beans, rosy applesauce.

Tuesday — breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: hot dog on a bun or chili dog on a bun or brat on a bun, Tater Tots, sidekick.

Wednesday — Thanksgiving break; no school.

Thursday — Thanksgiving break; no school.

Friday — Thanksgiving break; no school.

Milk, juice, fruit and a choice of mini doughnuts, Pop Tarts, breakfast bar or breakfast bread is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. Offered daily for lunch is a choice of: fruit and yogurt parfait with granola, sub sandwich, specialty salad, nachos-to-go or Uncrustable PBJ. A fresh garden bar, with romaine salad with a choice of dressings, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit, is available for lunch.
