LOCKRIDGE – Authorities are searching for a Richland man who went missing early this morning in Henry County.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office issued a news release stating that at 1:49 a.m. today, it was notified of a missing snowmobile driver, Spencer Ray Adam, 25. Henry County Sheriff’s deputies began searching with authorities from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Shortly after 3 a.m., the snowmobile was found near the Skunk River and Highway 34 bridge. The driver was not found near the snowmobile.
Fairfield Fire Chief Scott Vaughan confirmed today that three Fairfield firefighters took the department’s boat to help search for Adam in the Skunk River.
“We got the call between 3-4 a.m. to get the boat ready,” Vaughan said. “We did not actively start searching until it was daylight.”
Vaughan said the firefighters put their boat in the water at about 7:30 a.m. at Oakland Mills, a couple of miles southwest of Mt. Pleasant.
“People are searching as we speak,” Vaughan said at 8:40 a.m. today. “We’ve got three guys there, and we’ll switch out [other firefighters] depending on how long the search lasts.”
