Gothic House to host Halloween Party

Visitors to the historic American Gothic House Center in Eldon will be able to participate in family-friendly activities and crafts to celebrate Halloween Saturday.

The center’s annual Halloween party will be from 1-4 p.m. The event is free for all to attend and will includes games and crafts. The event will also include a visit from the University of Iowa Mobile Museum, a traveling exhibit for all ages which brings UI collections and research to people across the state.

“We’re very excited about our Halloween party this year, not only because of the Mobile Museum coming down, but also because it’s our first big event after the completion of the house’s restoration this summer,” said Kelsy Westman, administrator for the American Gothic House Center.

The party will include Halloween-themed lawn games, crafts that kids of all ages can make inside the house itself, and refreshments, while supplies last. Costumes are encouraged, and staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist with photos in front of the newly-restored house.
