Residents should be aware that a portion of West Broadway Avenue will be closed Jan. 15 so that the flag pole outside the post office can be replaced.
The intersection affected is West Broadway Avenue and North Second Street. Reggie Cox will take down the flag pole and replace it that same day. He has received permission to block Broadway in the half-block west of its intersection with Second Street. Pedestrians will still be able to enter the post office from the north, but will not be able to use the sidewalk east of the stairs.
There will be no parking outside the post office while the flag pole is being taken down. Orange snow fence will surround the work area, and residents are asked to avoid going inside the fence.
“I don’t want to impede the use of the post office, but I also don’t want anyone to get hurt,” Cox said.
