Vehicle disabled after striking calf on road

A man’s vehicle was badly damaged when he struck a calf while traveling near Lockridge Dec. 21.

Thomas Morgan II, 61, of rural Mt. Pleasant, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet truck in the 2100 block of Vetch Boulevard, a paved road near Hopkirk Cemetery northwest of Lockridge. At 5:27 p.m., Morgan’s vehicle struck and killed a calf that had wandered into the roadway.

Lockridge Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to clean up the spilled oils from the vehicle. The vehicle had to be towed, but the driver was not injured. The calf belonged to an Amish man named Samuel Bender.
