The Trojan boys’ golf team was narrowly edged by Sigourney Thursday afternoon at the Fairfield Golf and Country Club, although FHS did outshoot their other guests from Eddyville by 26 strokes.
“The team played well with five guys shooting in the 40s,” said head coach Mick Flattery.
Brad Smithburg shot a 38 after chipping in for birdie on the par 4 first hold and then following with four pars over the next eight holes.
Jackson Weaton shot a 40. He putted well and had two pars before birdieing the final hole, the par 5 ninth.
Drake Rippey shot a 43 and had four pars before also birdieing the par 5 ninth.
Josh Brewington had two pars during his 44.
Evan Haines shot 50 while Nate Smithburg scored a 53.
