Many area athletes from Cardinal, Pekin and Van Buren will be headed to the boys’ and girls’ state track meet this weekend at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Below are the athletes with their qualifying times and distances.


Class 1A

200 meter dash

Trey Albert of Cardinal clocked the seventh fastest time, qualifying in 23.04.

400 meter dash

Cardinal’s Griffin Greiner has the 11th fastest time in the state, qualifying in 52.05.

1600 meter run

Pekin’s Brady Millikin qualified with the sixth fastest seed time at 4:44.85 while teammate Colten Glosser qualified 17th with a time of 4:48.95.

3200 meter run

The Panther teammates also qualified for the two-mile race with times of 10:11.61 for Millikin who qualified eighth and 10:16.52 for 13th fastest Glosser.

400 meter hurdles

Cole Earnest of Pekin qualified 19th with a time of 58.40.

4x100 meter relay

Cardinal qualified third with Griffin Greiner, Colby Aschenbrenner, Jarrett Greiner, Trey Albert and Christian Bowman and Ben Clark as alternates, clocking a time of 44.71. Pekin qualified sixth with Quinn Ledger, Lathe Crochet, Kennan Winn, Dayne Eckley with Cameron Millikin and Devin Fraise as alternates with a time of 44.87.

4x200 meter relay

Pekin is sending the 12th fastest set with Ledger, Crochet, K. Winn and D. Eckley clocking in at 1:33.91. C. Millikin and C. Earnest will serve as alternates.

4x400 meter relay

G. Greiner, J. Greiner, Landon Becker and T. Albert qualified 13th with a time of 3:34.63 with B. Clark and C. Bowman as alternates for the Comets.

4x800 meter relay

The Panthers will have the 16th fastest seed time at 8:34.67 with Tanner Conger, Zack Wise, Colten Glosser and Brady Millikin running and Chandler Stull and Cameron Millikin as alternates.

Distance Medley

Pekin has the 13th fastest seed time with 3:45.73 as the qualifying time for L. Crochet, D. Eckley, C. Millikin and B. Millikin with Q. Ledger and K. Winn as alternates.

Shuttle hurdle relay

Pekin’s Devin Fraise, Q. Ledger, L. Crochet and C. Earnest qualfied with a time of 1:03.84 with Michael Jones listed as the Panther’s alternate.

Sprint Medley

Pekin has the 18th fastest seed time at 1:38.20 by L. Crochet, K. Winn, D. Eckley and C. Millikin and Q. Ledger and D. Fraise as alternates.

Long Jump

Trey Albert of Cardinal qualified seventh with a leap of 20’09.50” while Pekin’s Devin Fraise is 17th with 20’00”.


Class 1A

800 meter run

Alexia McClure of Cardinal qualified 14th with a time of 2:31.09 while Pekin’s Cari Duwa had the 22nd fastest seed time at 2:34.08.

1500 meter run

Pekin freshmen Lauren Derscheid (5:18.48) and Emily Laumeyer (5:19.41) qualified 17th and 18th, respectively.

3000 meter run

Lauren Derscheid also qualified 17th in the nearly two-mile race with a time of 11:37.38.

4x100 meter relay

Cate Roth, Ellie Ledger, Emilee Linder and Sophie Wittrock qualified ninth with a time of 52.70 and Mackenzie Dahlstrom and Zoey Wright listed as alternates.

4x400 meter relay

Pekin had the 17th fastest seed time at 4:19.99 ran by Sarah Eubanks, H. Loper, Zoey Wright and R. Duwa with C. Duwa and E. Laumeyer listed as alternates.

4x800 meter relay

The Panthers qualified fourth with a time of 10:13.82 and C. Duwa, Remi Duwa, E. Laumeyer and Hollie Loper listed as the quartet with Maddie Black and Lilly Fariss as alternates.

Sprint Medley

Pekin qualified 21st with a seed time of 1:55.95 from S. Wittrock, C, Roth, Z. Wright and S. Eubanks and R. Duwa and E. Linder listed as alternates.

Distance Medley

Cardinal recorded the seventh fastest time at 4:28.30 from Kiya Chapin, Rachel Lewman, Alexia McClure and Sydney Pickrell and Allison Sloan and Madison Cloke as alternates. Pekin is ninth with S. Wittrock, Z. Wright, Sarah Eubanks and Remi Duwa with C. Roth and C. Duwa as the Panther backups. Pekin ran a qualifying time of 4:30.62.

Discus Throw

Kerrigan Pope qualified with the third farthest throw of 129’.

Class 2A

4x100 meter relay

Van Buren qualified 13th with a time of 51.91 from Isabel Manning, Chloe Davidson, Madison Bartholomew and Grace Davidson with Shea Scott as an alternate.


The same quartet qualified for the 4x2 with a time of 1:50.37 and Kadence Nusbaum listed as the Warriors alternate.
