Strong weekend for Panther basketball

The Pekin boys basketball team defeated IMS 56-46 on Friday, lost to New London 56-42 Saturday and then beat Cardinal 67-45 last night with all three games at home for the now 4-2 Panthers.

Senior Caleb Comstock led the team in scoring over the stretch with 36 points with sophomore Brady and senior Cameron Millikin leading the offensive charge Monday with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

The 5-1 Lady Panthers defeated IMS 56-29 Friday night and Cardinal 72-24 Monday. Senior Haley Gambell had 18 points in each contest with classmate Ellie Ledger and freshman Kerrigan Pope adding 10 points a piece against IMS and junior Emilee Linder and senior Zoey Wright both tallying 13 points against Cardinal.

The girls and boys teams will both travel to Lone Tree tonight for a SEISC showdown before hosting Louisa-Muscatine on Friday at the airstrip.
